and yes in the 1930s Geo Gregory of Bolton was usually billed as Light Heavyweight. The belt Gregory is wearing on all his photos in fact was called - Northern Champion belt and sometimes the London Club Belt which kind of matches the 1935 KO Tourney title.
If the 1930s was anything like the years after the war then it will be a near impossible task Ruslan. Maybe it was different in America but in Britain promoters would just say whatever was most beneficial for that night. Titles didn't really count for much. McManus, Pallo, kellett, Logan, Nagasaki, Rocco didn't achieve their status because of any title they held. They all held titles for a short time but that didn't enhance their status.
Hack, I am asking because the question when/where/from whom Gregory won British Hwt championship is still UNSOLVED. We all know he lost it to Assirati...but that is well known fact...most important question is what was the basis of Gregory's title claims.
O'Leary is billed as British Hwt Champion at Modern XX century CACC.
So in the 1930s we had at least 3 British Hwt Champs:
1. All-in Champ - 2 falls, subs, KO
2. XX c CACC Champ - 2 falls, Points, KO
3. Pro Free Style Champ - 2 falls, KO
The more the merrier.
1938. XX Century CACC Northern Hwt Championship. Holder: Bert Mansfield.
NOTE: Gregory is billed as undefeated for 3 years.

Hi Ruslan, read the A-Z for George Gregory.
It explains the situation at the time, and probably the answer is no-one knows!
It was just accepted.

Yes they did wrestle each other. You'll find reports in your BNA archives Ruslan.
