Nearly all Wrestlers as Athletes trained regularly to stay Fit!-Plus most trained with
Weights to build up POWER and STRENGTH!
So we would assume being Strong and having Stamina was really a prerequisite and
must have for Wrestling!! BUT this is one thing-in Catchweight Bouts a Wrestler had to
take on a Bigger,Heavier Man than himself who was often Stronger too!-So LIFTING an
Opponent-even with his 'help' was still some Feat!
But what about BODY SLAMMING him??-Some Heavyweights were Massive!
Of course we All know about HULK HOGAN Slamming ANDRE THE GIANT-(500LBS+)
ULTIMATE WARRIOR also achieved this too!-But what about OUR Rings?
COUNT BARTELLI famously Slammed ZEBRA KID-(24 Stone!!) and KENDO NAGASAKI
subjected BIG DADDY to the KAMIKAZE CRASH-exiting the Ring as CRABTREE was
being counted out!-So WHO else? Did Anyone see PRINCES KUMALI/IAUKEA Slammed
by Lighter Guys? Pictures to follow!
MAIN MASK
A couple from the Main Mask, starting with Bartelli slamming The Zebra Kid
Not a "body slam" per se, but Wild Angus suplexing Mal Kirk back into the ring was impressive.
The body slam needs the opponent (being slammed) to work with the aggressor, to make it look fluid and spectacular, especially with the bigger men.
A few people had already slammed Andre, before Hogan did it, but only because he let them.
When Big Daddy slammed Le Grand Vladimir, on World of Sport back in the 70's, Vladimir sort of "jumped" into position, although Big D made a show of holding him up there for a while, all about balance I guess.
At Liverpool Stadium saw Gwynn Davies at about eighteen and a half stones body slam Jean Breston at twenty eight and a half stones.
