One half of the Wrestling Heritage Riot Squad, along with my friend Anglo Italian. I was born in Leyland, a town in Lancashire famous for buses, lorries, paint and rubber. I watched the wrestling on television before going to my first live show in 1965. That was an independent show and I've remained a fan of the independent promoters ever since. In those days on the independents we could watch the likes of Johnny Saint, Wild Angus, Al Marquette, Dominic Pye and Mike Marino. On my first show I saw Mike Marino, Crusher Verdu, Lord Bertie Topham, Wild Man of Borneo and Dave Larsen. I went home hoarse. Wild Angus was my favourite.

I continued going to the wrestling in Preston, Blackburn, Chorley, Manchester and Blackpool until 1976. My interest by then was on the wane as wrestling was changing and new interests were developing. I went to a few shows after moving to Birmingham in 1976, the last being 1978 or 1979.

That was it. Left with just the memories as I saw the standard deteriorate on television. Until the early part of this century when I went on the internet and found lots of people talking about the wrestling and wrestlers I remembered. I read the old 1 Stop Forum for months, thinking I had nothing to offer, before bravely making my first post about Jack Dempsey. Jack Pallo followed and Jack Pye. I then received a private message from someone calling himself Anglo Italian who asked if I'd got a thing about men called Jack.

One night in the spring of 2006 we met up in Wolverhampton and over a curry and a pint the idea of Wrestling Heritage began to take shape. The site was launched in April, 2007. It's been mostly fun, though the technical side is tedious, and I have had the privilege of making a real life friend in Anglo Italian and numerous internet friends.
