Dear Friends,
I am happy to share with you the 'Pro Wrestling Rules' issued by the California State Athletic Commission in 1926. Back then the pro wrestling matches in the State of California weren't restricted to Catch wrestling only and other Internationally recognized styles such as Greco-Roman as well as the traditional American styles (such as Collar & Elbow and Side Hold) were allowed. Enjoy the read. It truly is a unique document. Russian Concussion.
I have the 1928 spaulding rule book for amateur CACC i can upload to a pdf hosting site if anyone wants it
I don't know if this is of any interest Ruslan —it may be a bit early for you—but I came ax a cutting in the Brooklyn Daily Eagle about Capt James Daly 'the Irish giant' charged with assaulting a police officer who tried to break up a wrestling match at the National Theatre on the Bowery in 1890. The police thought it was for a money prize but Daly said it was only for a medal. He had an interest in the boy Ernest Roeber who at the time was one fall up on a Russian Melkoss. I don;t know what happened to Daly.
Interesting stuff. Interesting that they call Lancashire out, by name, rather than just Catch-As-Catch-Can
