Hello everyone, I'm looking for information about my grandfather, all I know is that he was a wrestler around the 1950s from the Ashton-under-Lyne/Dunkinfield area. His name was William Frederick Potter but I don't know his wrestling name. Any information would be gratefully received. Thank you.

Ron, Mr Potter was born in 1914, so his pro-career likely happened during the peak of all-in times, 1930s and 40s. Lightweight class was very competitive in the 1930s, champ was Relwyskow Jr. Other top people were Joe Reid and Johnny Nelson who just recently turned pros.
1938 Preston KO, for best lightweights, belt at stake.
But that is pros, may be he started with amateurs in Lanc County Am Wres Assn, they were running championships till mid or late 1930s. And again lightweights was most competitive class. Usually it was part of the Wigan Police Sports, or even of the Ashton-under-lyne Police Sports like in 1927.
my question would be - roughly how tall was he? was he short or rather tall?
Thanks, R
