A 'Super Classy'15 Stone HEAVYWEIGHT started his Wrestling Career in the early
1930's- the 'Huddersfield Hurricane'-HARRY BROOKS! By 1939 HARRY was being Billed
as the 'Heavyweight Champion of the North'!
BROOKS' Training for the Ring was the Absolute Best-under the Wing of BILLY RILEY and
DOUGLAS CLARK!
He Fought the Best Opposition around and I have him Topping Bills as late as 1947!
We don't seem to have a Photo of HARRY in the A-Z-So I include one Below!
BROOKS was one of the Top Wrestlers of the 1930's and 1940's!

In 1936, the promoter in Nottingham was Callaghan, not sure if that was still the deal in 1939.
Sorry MM, meant to ask, Who was the promoter on that Mancelli- Brooks bill please?
No. Michael O'Leary was champion in 1939, but was killed at outbreak of WW2.
George Gregory had a disputed claim to the title,at that time.
It appears that Bert Assiratti had the title in 1945.
"Official Heavyweight Champion of the North "Was there an unofficial champion?
I recently learned that Harry was here in New Zealand in 1977. Not as a competitor, but visiting old friend Leo Lightbody.
Here's a nice headshot of Harry:
And the Front Page from the above Rarity!
