Hi OST. ‘Getting rid’ sounds a bit nasty. Like maybe, just make a funeral pyre of them? No, I was very reluctant to see them go, as most of the collection had travelled thousands of miles. When I first returned to England in 1970, I sent the collected The Wrestler magazines, by ship, as I had a sneaking suspicion my mother would sell them. The tea chest they arrived in was a whisker away from falling apart, but they were all fine and I believe in todays world, they would have been lost, stolen or damaged! As it was, she did sell one, five foot stack of mags. of three, that I left behind. Once I converted the poor Aussie dollars she had sent me into pounds sterling, I think that swelled my coffers to the tone of three pound ten! And there were mags amongst the sold ones, that I never came across again. The Wrestler mags. went from England to the U.K. on 4 seperate occasions! Then a greater part of the collection, photos, clippings, programs etc went on the same trips on three occasions!
Anyway, had I been living in the U.K. the Heritage guys could have fought over them, however in a clandestine meeting yesterday, at 3.15 precisely, the collection changed owners. In safe keeping, no filthy lucre involved, just a handshake and an empty car boot journey home. I think I’ll pour myself a scotch.
Hi John. If you are getting rid of anything please check with me first.
