A POEM

In these very strange times for us all I have written a poem you may like. Nothing to do with wrestling but hope you guys are all keeping safe and well.

Happy New Year was just 3 months ago

But a different world now from the one that we know

A world full of freedom, travel and laughter

No longer exists cos we need to live smarter

Confined to our houses, our families are safer

Our friends have to wait, we can see them all later

Protect mothers and fathers, your sons or your daughter

Because if we go outside we’re like lambs to the slaughter

The sun may be shining, the sky may be blue

But don’t go outside, people die if you do

As the clock ticks away, time seems to stand still

PLEASE stay indoors, you’ll save lives if you will

You don’t have to like him, Boris doing his best

With his team full of experts, to stop this damn pest

This invisible killer, no conscience or care

Sweeping the world, step outside if you dare

But guys, listen please, to the advice we’ve been given

I know it’s no fun but you do have to listen

It doesn’t care about your race or your team

And I’m sorry if it has put a halt to your dream

Yes tears will be shed for those who are taken

Never forgotten but don’t be mistaken

Most will survive and life will go on

History will live for all those who have gone

To ALL the key workers, this message to you

A really BIG THANK YOU, for all that you do

From Doctors to cleaners and all in between

This country salutes you, each one a King or a Queen

Guys, we will laugh again with our friends in the pub

We’ll share banter with those who follow a club

And we’ll moan about people we don’t really like

But we’ll drink and we’ll dance all through the night

We’ll remember those people whose lives were cut short

How we lived in our houses like trapped in a fort

When toilet rolls ruled as if they were gold

And all of our lives were put on a hold

We WILL party again like we have done before

But for now we must wait as we settle a score

With an enemy like no other, unknown to man

No guns, tanks or weapons – not even a plan

People are frightened, some scared and alone

Show them you care and just pick up the phone

Look at your children, thank God they’re ok

Your neighbour may not be, so call them today,.

So guys, please listen, and do think of others

ALL our lives count, not just yours over anothers

I know this is hard but it won’t be forever

So be strong and stay safe, WE ARE IN THIS TOGETHER!!!
