As I didn't become interested in wrestling until around 1975 I never got to see this guy and sadly there isn't a lot on YouTube. I have a feeling I would have been a fan if I had the chance. What was he like? Good value for money? exciting to watch? and who in your opinion was better Bobby Barnes or Adrian?

Adrian Street's show evolved on a yearly basis from about 1968.
Matching dyed blond hair with Bobby, and the little wings.
Then the leather jackets and longer hair. My favourite phase as described by several others above.
Then Adrian Street Esquire with gold lamé and feathers - quite stunning.
Then sequins and other antics which I didn't see as he joined Pallo Promotions before leaving for the USA.
I have to come back to my often repeated point about not applying too much hindsight. I can vividly remember seeing the Hells Angels in 1971. On the one hand, the very name of Hells Angels. These were the very dangerous motor-bikers who had been involved in all those seaside confrontations in the sixties, the time of the Mods & Rockers. Those days, also of the 1966 Battle of Box Hill, were fresh in the memory.
Then again, they did our heads in with prancing around effeminitely inside physiques that were more developed than most other wrestlers at the time.
They were genius in rolling into one presentation the intimidating original aspect of 1960s Hells Angels with 1968's legalisation of homosexuality, bringing within the spectators' gaze a sight they may not have otherwise seen in their everyday lives. Mind you, they drew the line at homosexuality: they were camp without ever implying relations with opponets or each other. They were very careful about that.
It really took some guts for them to carry off this risky show at that time.
In parallel, we saw Dale Martin's similarly playing on the 1968 film Oliver by taking two other undercarders - as Street & Barnes had been - in Conlon & Bailey and turning them into The Artful Dodgers. They were ok but didn't make it in the same way. So DM were cautious and kept even the tag team of the Hells Angels out of top-of-the-bill and we had great value in seeing them for a couple of years in first or even only second supporting bouts.
Mind you, DMs probably kept paying them undercarders' wages all through this....
You are probably right pal, plus his family are all here, kids, grand kids, etc.
Yes I would also love to see his memorabilia as well.
Wonder why he gave up the warmth of Florida for Wales?
I didn't realise that he was living in Wales now, interesting stuff.
Adrian was fantastic, one of the real greats in my opinion.
First and foremost, the guy could wrestle, second, he had real presence and charisma and last but not least, he had a great gimmick that lasted him a life time.
I remember him originally with the blond quiff, sort of like Elvis or Tony Curtis (50's hairstyle), but blond.
By the early 70's, he grew his hair out longer and the make up became more evident. This was probably peak Adrian, he acted in an effeminate manner, like he was no threat, and then suddenly, when pushed too far, he sort of "snapped" and became a vicious psychopath in the space of a few seconds, and laid into his opponent.
He could whip the crowd into a freny by walking round the ring, flexing his pecs, after winning a match, or a fall or a submission.
And as has already been said, the Hells Angels were the best tag team, two villains who broke the rules, but were cool at the same time, and had you sort of secretly cheering them on.
His books about his life story are "must read" material for any wrestling fan, in my opinion, his escapades over here, his life in the USA, all fascinating stuff, and funny as well, the bloke is a natural born story teller.
I have sporadically kept in touch with him, not for a while though.
Is he really nearly 80? If I look as good as he does now when I reach 60 I'll be happy! Too bad we gotta get old Ron, life goes at a nice steady pace until you reach around 40 and then the years just fly by at 100mph. Its frightening when you realise just how long ago the golden age of wrestling was when you could watch it all over the country for a small amount of money or tune into Dicky Davis at 4.00 on a Saturday afternoon. I had hair in those days, good eyesight and a body that actually did what I wanted it to without creaking and moaning about it, I could also walk into a room and remember what it was I went in there for!
Street nearly 80 now Frank.
I named two lots of top five wrestlers yesterday. I probably should have fitted in Street. When I picked the paper up to see what was on , I used to look for Kendo first and if not Albert Wall and if not Street or Hells Angels. I liked it rough so Billy Howes , Ginsberg , Dennison suited me also.
Street was for me right at the top and by the late 1960's I felt they were holding him back slightly for McManus and Pallo. My only mark against him was he overdid the Gay stuff in the end and did a lot of prancing about.
I did not name any small men yesterday , but Street for me was the best to watch and there were some very good ones.
Can't agree with main Mask , Street was quite far ahead of Barnes who was good. Just my opinion.
Streets bouts with Maxine , I thought were a let down. Stunning with Breaks or Faulkner.
Never saw him in with McManus or Pallo.
Seems I missed a great wrestler! I will endeavor to put this right and find some footage somewhere. I've spoken to Adrian on line a couple of times and like nearly every other wrestler I've met he came across as a lovely bloke. He must be in his mid seventies by now yet he still looks great and as fit as anything.
Hells Angels were arguably the best tag team the UK produced ever. Charismatic, they could wrestle, brawl, thrill and rile a crowd , Adrian was a great singles wrestler and although he had a long career in the states, I think we got the best of him here wrestling wise, he adopted much more of a brawling style in the US. Look for his match in the states vs our own JJ Pallo, an excellent match and a very British style match, well worth a watch.
