I missed the golden era of Adrian Street (too young!) but I did see him several times when he wrestled for Jackie Pallo against the likes of Pallo, JJ,and Kellet, always entertaining. One of the best matches I saw was against Rikki Starr. The TV bout against Mick McMichael was excellent. Can anybody tell me the opponents he was facing regularly in his TV days please? Also, after the Hells Angels split, did he feature in many tags? I know he wasn't a fan of the Daddy era!
Incidentally, saw him arrive at my local venue one night - he was much bigger than I thought!
Happy Birthday Adrian Street!
Happy birthday to Adrian Street today (5th December) as he celebrates his 79th birthday.
Glitter, Glam Rock and a Forearm Smash
as previously stated Adrian used thick soled boots, he may well have had lifts in them plus his hair always stood another inch or two because of its styling, in his singles and tags he rarely fought much above his weight so because of his opponents he never looked particularly small
Hi alanapaily.I think there are a few on YouTube.Versus Jim Breaks was definately on.Further, there are some of his bouts from U.S. under Exotic Adrian Street.Take care.
Thanks Romeo, i wish "The Wrestling Channel" had managed to air more of his bouts when it was running as i was too young at the time to be able to recall watching them originally.
Adrian was originally a lightweight (Welsh lightweight champion) at 70 kg or up to eleven stones. Then he moved to Welterweight up to 75 kg or eleven stones eleven pounds and stayed in that weight division for a long time. Then when working on Independent shows. I think he bulked up to around 86 kg or thirteen and a half stones and then moved to Canada and eventually U.S.A. Eventually I think he went up to about 88/89 kg or fifteen stones eight pounds.I think that was his heaviest bodyweight, however, that weight in U.S.A. was Junior Heavyweight as it was generally accepted that a heavyweight in U.S.A. was over 225 ponds or 16 stones ans one pound.
I have'nt yet invested in Adrian's continuing autobiography.Having listened to an interview by Johnny Kincaid i think i would take some of what's written with a pinch of salt. Great wrestler though.
Here's Adrian with Miss Linda,The Undertaker,Big Show,and VInce McMahon
Adrian Street, one of the very best!
His series of books (autobiography) are fantastic to read.
What weight category was Adrian in when he left Britain for America? In the early 1980's Adrian spent two seasons in the European tournaments where he virtually lost every bout, but in the same years the reverse occurred in his tours of America!
Adrian Street! Now you're talking! Love that guy more than I love my genitals.
He(Mr Street) used to wear boots with very thick soles and heels, made him look taller. There is a photo of Adrian with, among others,Vince Mcmahon, out there somewhere on t'net Ada does not come up to Vince's shoulders.I think 5ft 7 in is about right.
He admits to five seven.I think I read it in one of his books.
Enjoyed Street a lot and saw him with Saint , Vic Faulkner , Maxine and McMichael.
Lots of timers in tag of course.
Great body on him and put more weight on over the years if that is what you mean by big.
Otherwise I would peg him at Five six.
