Of late I have been watching wrestling on youtube at night on an internet tv.
I like the way it proposes fresh stuff each time you log on.
Fascinating to pick up later years that I missed after I had lost interest.
To see Kendo return and Rocco later with more weight. People I had missed like Skull Murphy.
Last night I was truly amazed and this may not be news to some.
I was a massive fan of Dynamite Kid and Rocco , Jones and Finlay. Wrestling was going into a newer more intense , faster and high risk direction.
But I came across two wrestling nephews of Tommy Billington.
Really enjoyed seeing Marty Jones introduce them and their exhibition.
All in all times have changed , but I would pay money to watch these kids.
I enjoyed this also. Ron's comment, "I hope they don't wreck their bodies," makes sound sense. Not wanting to sound too much like an old man, but if they were to temper all the high-flying stuff with some mat wrestling and trading of holds, their bodies would last much longer. Still, it probably isn't fashionable these days and would just produce slow hand claps.
Actually, I don't particularly mind sounding like an old man and, as I was watching this, my mind drifted back to the first time I saw Marty Jones and The Dynamite Kid on a live show. My first sighting of Marty Jones coincided with his TV debut on a show recorded from Bolton's Wryton Stadium where Martin Conroy had matched Jones against the lighter but more experienced Bobby Ryan. Jones emerged victorious from his TV debut on a bill topped by a tag match which saw Les Kellett and Dave Barrie facing Adrian Street and Bobby Barnes.
On my first sighting of The Dynamite Kid I was absolutely blown away. It was at a Jack Atherton/Frank Woodhouse show at The Queen's Baths, Derby, and Billington faced a regular early opponent, Kenny Hogan. I had never seen anything like it and was absolutely transfixed. The fact that it followed a slow-moving encounter between Giant Haystacks and John Lees made it all the more exciting.
Plenty of Talent out there is right , but I thought these two trained by Marty were exceptional. They had the gift , it was in the genes.
It's so high risk , I do hope they don't wreck their bodies.
I do believe they could make some real money.
Cheers for that, very entertaining. People say wrestling ran its course, had its day ect, but it didnt. It was just totally mis-managed and as a result it died. There was plenty of young raw talent like these two out there that could have been nurtured in order to bring etestling forward but instead the lunatics took over the asylum and everything became about big Shirley the cash cow. Christ on a bike, who would call their son Shirley ????
