Great find. I'm currently working on a book about the history of pro wrestling in Northern Ireland. It has been a great undertaking but greater learning experience. Wrestling seems to have flopped at the first bill in Belfast on December 5th 1932, but takes off at the end of the decade. Interesting, but not surprised, to see Dublin got it first.
Wonder if the Carroll's Dublin ancestry was actually Skerries. I have actually been there and it is only a little north of Dublin. Not sure if it actually counts as Dublin , but Dublin would be the nearest city.
Technically wouldn't The Tailteann Games in 1829 BC be Ireland's first wrestling event? 😝

Yes I think there was only one Jack Carroll and you can read about his Irish connection here

His Granddad was from Dublin
Uncle Joe was also a very famous Catch Wrestler
Fascinating article
A good read indeed and it just beats the first bout that I could find in Belfast.
A while back i wrote this article https://www.wrestlingheritage.com/belfastgrappling
Going back to 1932 and Dublin , the article mentions Jack Carroll of Skerries.
Well it could be true , but I would of thought this was the famous Jack Carroll of Wigan.
Such is wrestling.
