Following on from ANGLO's 'Greatest Wrestling Moments'.......
I felt that this Match Merited Individual Coverage as I have a fair bit of Related Material!!
Billed as a 'World Title Eliminator'-This was a Much-Hyped Clash with BERT-the BRITISH
HEAVYWEIGHT Champion laying Claim to the World's HEAVYWEIGHT Crown!- For ASSIRATI- MAURICE TILLET was just a Stepping Stone!....
In true Wrestling Fashion the Bout ended in 'Controversy' with the 'Winning' Score being
Disputed by ANGEL's Manager KARL POJELLO!!
Incidentally the A-Z talks of this Last Score as being a Submission whereas the After Match
Report below talks of a Disputed Pin Fall!...
Below the Pre-Fight 'Build-Up AND the subsequent 'Post Mortem' on the Event!
Note DEAN ROCKWELL and JACK PYE on the 'Supporting Under Card'!!

Correction to my last post.I think the other 'Angel' was Swedish.Think his name was Olafsson.
I am sure there were a number of 'Angels' billed around this period.Didn,t the French have one too?
This was one of Bulldog Clayton's biggest bouts, taking on the Angel. The handbill is unfortunately worn (although nearly 82 years old). Love the photo of the "freak" himself, looking dapper, standing next to the poster:
Such well written reviews, I felt I was there.
Thanks for sharing, MM.
This Angel remains an enigma for me; was he any good? Or just an Elephant Man cum Quasimodo oddity?
I suspect the latter.
Also PAT CURRY...The 'Mysterious RED SHADOW!!.....
