Wear down Moves in Wrestling were very Popular in the 1930's/1940's/1950's before all the
High Impact/Aerial Moves followed later on!!
There were many Benefits and Advantages in the Employment of such 'Attrition' Moves for
the Wrestler doing the applying! Firstly 'Trapping' the Opponent in such 'Locks' could give a
rest period for the Man using them-especially on the Canvas! Equally as Important the
Locked-Up' Wrestler could expend a lot of Energy with escape attempts as well as being
'weakened' in the Process!
One such Classic Hold was the SHORT ARM SCISSORS!-Very hard to get out of-this could
send the limb 'to sleep'-thus softening it up for a Submission!
One Great Wrestler used this to finely honed perfection-DOUGLAS CLARK-in fact it was his
'Speciality'!
Who saw Wrestlers using this Move?-A Rarity after the Mid '60's although I once saw it
applied by none other than ROLLERBALL ROCCO!
