This fellow played against England today: any connexion?
Assirati had previously KO'd Martinsen at Harringay in March 1947 in the World Heavyweight Championship Tournament.
Was Ivan Martinsen well known at the time of this picture?
If it was in Glasgow, the Scots crowd went home happy that night!
Well if it wasn't arranged it's a hell of a dodgy way of dealing with a KO victim. Especialy one weighing 18 stone !
Of course it was arranged, I think Bert's common trick was to charge head down and miss going through the ropes. If he got back in it was a quick body slam and press or failure to beat the count. Read a few reports like that.
