We've had a lot of interest in Bobby Barnes in the past. Here he is looking very well indeed, out to lunch last week with Heritage member Chris Buckwell.
I remember Bobby Barnes so well. He was a fantastic wrestler with some really unique holds and moves. A great career with Adrian Street in tag team action. Bobby Barnes wrestled all the greats in his time. One of the best.
Bobby Barnes is the great wrestler best remembered for The Hells Angels Tag Team with the late Adrian Street on ITV World of Sport.
Bobby's final wrestling match against Robbie Brookside from Liverpool at Dewsbury Yorkshire and Robbie beat Bobby by one-fall in round 3 and Lee Bamber,The M.C told Bobby this is one fall contest not two falls in 1988.
Great tag team who had a great time together and made good money. They wrestled overseas in France and Spain (and had other adventures in France, according to Adrian!).
Bobby Barnes and Adrian Street, my favourite two wrestlers of all time. ๐ฏ Lovely picture above of Bobby, there doesn't seem to be a great amount of info on the internet overall about him.
Hello Ruth, Bobby was at The Annual Wrestling Lunch on the 10th August, he thoroughly enjoyed meeting up with his former colleagues and was delighted to receive an award for his contribution to wrestling.
By the eighties shortening the career of wrestlers was designed to make everything more credible. We were never told McManus turned professional in 1945!
I remember watching you when l was a kid watching Black and White TV. My god you do looking well as l am 71 year old. Love to come see you in person and having a pint . Take care and be strong. Philip
His final TV match broadcast in May 1988 is on You Tube. Walton tells us he turned Pro in the seventies! Not sure what fans who saw him live thirty years earlier in 1958 would say to that

The Great Man of Wrestling Bobby Barnes.
Terry
A young Bobby in 1950, long before dreams of wrestling Peter Rabbit. Dick Conlon was also in the same club and event.
The hells Angels were two good looking blokes and no mistake. ๐๐๐
BOBBY BARNES told Me Personally That his First Ever Professional Bout was

The question is:
Did Kent invent his Waltonisms?
Or did the wrestlers tell him exactly what they wanted to be said? If so, at what price?

Great to see this!
I also appreciated that, even though he had obvious similarities with his tag partner, he was also quite distinct and created his own persona.
In the interests of objectivity, however, I didn't like it when he had a dark moustache.
