Pallo had some great Bills, and some very good wrestlers. He was sabotaged several times...Shame really
One and the same.
Would this be the same Billy Whitecloud who wrestled for Jackie Pallo promotions? If so, I saw him wrestle live several times including against Johnny Kincaid and a young Dave Finlay. Always an all action bout.
Yes on closer examination Best was in a match versus his partner Saint
Better go to Specsavers, Peter ☺
I saw Thundercloud and White Cloud also against Penzy and Czeslaw. They were hard hitters and unfailingly exotic at the time with so many feathers everywhere.
I still bear them a bit of a grudge as they slipped my net and I never got their autographs.
You lucky blighter, Graham, being at the Albert Hall for their Hells Angels bout!
Their high profile bouts were publicised extensively on the back of appearances at local halls, enticing fans to make the trip to see them against the Angels.
All contributions I make are based upon memory; any notes I had I lost years ago. I've just remembered that during White Cloud's solo visit working for the independents that he also topped the bill at The Houldsworth Hall, Deansgate, Manchester, against Johnny South but I remember nothing else about the show. I'm pretty sure it wasn't a Cassidy/Carpentier promotion.
a friend told me they were cousins from skipton. day job was milkman and postman. good family men who enjoyed sport and ballroom dancing.
When Chief Thundercloud and Billy White Cloud first came over, my first experience of seeing them together was at The Pavilion Gardens, Buxton, in a very good bout against The Lincolnshire Poachers (Bill and Ron Clarke). This was a Wryton promotion and I also saw Wryton match them against Roy and Tony St. Clair at The Kings Hall, Belle Vue. Also, at Belle Vue, in singles matches White Cloud faced Al Martin and Thundercloud had his work cut out against Jock Mc. Gregor. Also, on this first tour, I saw them face Hells Angels (Street and Barnes) at The Royal Albert Hall for Dale/Martin. They were blue eyes in all but their encounter with The Saints where they were the villains. I also recall this combination being televised with rare commentary from Peter Cockburn (pronounced Coburn) and I recall when the Saints retaliated and sent the two Indians crashing into each other, he shouted into the microphone, "Remember the Alamo!" They were billed as being from San Carlos, Arizona.
Whether or not they worked regularly together in America I do not know but I do recall a year or so after their initial tour, Billy White Cloud returning to work the independent circuit. I recall Bobby Barron matching him with Jamaica George at Tower Beach Holiday Camp (Pontin's) at Prestatyn and Brian Dixon matching him with Jackie Pallo Jnr at The Civic Hall, Middleton. I also have vague memories of Dixon putting him in a tag match at the Champness Hall, Rochdale, where I worked as timekeeper. White Cloud tagged with Brian Mason against Jimmy Hagen and partner (who I think, but my memory is fuzzy, was Peter Stewart).
Adrian your correct Mass and Maxine didn't work,it was trialed up north and persevered by dales but was one that cancelled it's self out, it was rare at this time but later became a common occurrence.
Here's THUNDERCLOUD on his Tod in against STEVE LOGAN at
GRAVESEND!!
MAXINE versus MASAMBULA was always a 'Strange' Bout!!
