The Dumb Move.............
MAIN MASK
I recall watching a late night western featuring John Wayne with my old friend Geoff some months back. Wayne was playing the sheriff and was due to enter the town's saloon through the swing doors where the bad guys were holding fort and it was all about to kick off. Wayne was a tall guy and I was worried that the saloon had an extremely low ceiling. I said to Geoff, "Any moment now John Wayne's going to walk through those swing doors and bang his head on the ceiling." "Don't be daft," said Geoff, "they're not going to film John Wayne banging his head!" We argued back and forth for a while and eventually decided to have a £10 bet on it; me betting that Wayne would bang his head and Geoff betting that he would not. We both placed tenners on the table in front of the telly and waited for the big man to enter.
Sure enough, John Wayne entered the saloon through the swing doors and banged his head on the ceiling. Geoff held his hands up. "Fair enough, you take the money." My conscience got the better of me and I said, "No, Geoff, I can't take the money. You see, I've seen this film before." Geoff replied, "Well so've I. But I didn't think the daft bugger would do it twice!"
