I was reading the A-Z for Bob Kirkwood ,(who I know nothing about), trying to make some sense of Anglo's "after my time" Heritage quiz entry, when I saw Mick Mc Manus as the Dulwich Destroyer.
i don't now how many of you remember that mr mcmanus used to live in dulwich which was quite upmarket. mr mcmanus was well known in the area for his afternoon tea parties in which the well know duo of ball and chain the kaisze twins playing piano and violins in the corner. his finger watercress sandwiches were something to die for
I posted that query with you about Mick McManus deliberately.
Trying to stir things up.
I thought that a few people would come in to back you up. I was then going to say to them, now that you have posted on here, why don't you post some of your memories too?
Unfortunately that didn't happen. So you need to build your popularity up !
I don't think it matters, I think all we can do is report the facts. That Mick's place of origin, or perhaps simply residence, should have varied slightly over the years just reflects the facts. Or rather the fiction, since he lived in neither place - he lived at Denmark Hill. We would do a disservice to erase one or the other.
After all, in Ron's new gallery today from Hanley, we see Vic Hesselle billed from Vienna.
Hi Power, yes I know that promoters took liberties with wrestlers' names and where they came from.
I could quote you quite a few.
No, the point that I was trying to make was that here we have 2 different articles on this wonderful heritage site with different places of origin for one of our most well known wrestlers.
You know ,this is our bible, are we being led astray?

But I'm an out and out heel, Bernard ...........
O.K. Anglo, I'll come clean now.

Oh, I see, Bernard.

I think he was quite often billed as The Dulwich Destroyer, doesn't surprise me at all.
I don't see anything wrong.
The answer to the clue is relatively easy for most on here. It's just worded in a way that gives nothing away, so some lateral thinking is required.
Yes Anglo, very glib. Do you consider now that the article or the A-Z is wrong?
He was Anglo-Irish, too!
Yes, considering they billed Alan Garfield from Sydney, a couple of miles across sarf London isn't bad.
Do you remember Kent always insisted on saying Steve Logan was from Walworth, when he was billed from Brixton for years? (excluding Morecambe)
That quiz questions spans thirteen years ....
Bernard
Only a couple of miles between the two so I suppose a small imbellishment
