Just a shout out for a book I have written which will hopefully be launched late February 2022. Back in the summer of 1998 Martin Ruane aka Giant Haystacks invited me up to his home in Prestwich to work on an autobiography he wanted to write. He talked to me about his life, we got together a pitch to put forward to a publisher and we started putting stuff together. However, time was short. Within a few months Martin would be dead, I too would be in hospital with cancer and the project ended up on the cutting room floor as it were. However, now I have unearthed the work we did and put together this personal memoir of how a young fan was invited to the home of his wrestling hero, and the story Martin Ruane told me of his life. The book will be sold with all proceeds going to the Christies Cancer Hospital in Manchester. Its not a book about wrestling (although wrestling does feature) but is of how a unique figure battled through against the odds to become a British icon. The book will be availble exclusively online and I'll post the link on this forum when released if anybody is interested.

I look forward to this book, Eddie Rose.
I would like a copy of youre book
Could you post the link for you’re book
Is there any store that I could purchase the book from without going to the internet
I have just finished this book and can recommend it. Probably the closest look you will get at the private life of a wrestling legend.
Riot Squad you're a genius, worked straight away, many many thanks.
Try the link on our home page. That should go straight to the book.
I think the site doesn't like me Saxonwolf 😀 i've tried exactly the same process as yourself many times, pressed the magnifying glass and typed in Giant Haystacks and nothing. I might have to bide me time for a second hand copy i'm afraid. Ron's uploaded a canny video onto Youtube about the book.
Is anyone else finding it impossible to locate Ron's book on LULU website? I've even signed into the website hoping that by being a member it might do the trick but still no luck! I do recall having the same difficulty tracing a book from LULU a couple of years ago and i ended up purchasing said book directly from the author.
Hi Rob, unless i'm doing something wrong i'm having difficulty finding your book on the LULU website. I've tried your link no luck, and the website search doesn't appear to work. Alan
If anyone is interested, my book about Haystacks in now available from Lulu

So unfortunate that this tag is one of the unavailable bouts. A couple of years ago someone uploaded a Haystacks tribute which briefly showed a clip from that tag. The snippet of the contest looked in perfect condition and showed Daddy & Haystacks using Kendo as a human conker and belly butting him between the two of them, pure theatre lol.
Best of luck with this. I've posted a brief news piece on this at https://prowrestlingbooks.com/giant-haystacks-book-coming-soon/
I will be up for a copy.
Alan, The ones they said they had but turns out they are 'lost' (but now are maybe somewhere in the archive or maybe they don't have them) were GH vs Mike Marino (RAH 1976), Big Daddy & Mal Sanders vs GH & Mark Rocco (Leicester, 1979 although available in poor quality on YT) and the one they did have which is the earliest surviving Haystacks bout: GH & Big Daddy vs. Kendo Nagasaki & Rex Strong (Wythenshaw, 1975)
Hi Rob (hope that is your name, i took it from Nessie's upload above) You mentioned in the WOS Tapes topic that you placed a request for ITV to search for 3 of Haystacks particular bouts, can i be cheeky and ask which particular contests you inquired about?
Dear Rob I sincerely hope the book is a giant success especially for such a worthy cause. Will there be a book signing at some point.
Good Luck
Looking forward to it already 😉
Sounds great, and Christies Hospital is a good cause.
