Continuing The Series of Very Rare Encounters between Top Level Wrestlers--In The Early 1960's
Probably THE Best Two Heavyweights in The Country were GEORGES GORDIENKO and
BILLY ROBINSON Both of Whom hardly ever Lost a Match!
So when These Two Came into Conflict-a Bone-Crunching Collision was Always to be expected!!
But you would have been Very Lucky to Witness Such a Clash as they were Few and Very Far
Between-Only Methinks a Handful!-Also a Draw would have been almost certainly the Outcome!
Did Their Power and Strength Cancel Out Each Other? Was One not prepared to 'Go Down' to
the Other?-Was it not Considered a Wrestling 'Spectacle' by The Promoters?
Surely The Public would have been Interested in These Matches??
Below We have One Such Meeting in OCTOBER 1961 at BRIGHTON!-Staged by DALE
MARTIN!-But how many were there?-Can RON Uncover More Bouts??
I would-for One-have Bought a Ticket to Witness This Fight!!
MAIN MASK
Very serious definition of responsibilities of the ref
They wrestled a 1-1 draw on TV, 27 May 1961 emanating from Purley.
Two here and they also met at Purley in 1960. I also had the Brighton one.
Good questions, Main Mask.
I can't see this being a falls draw over 6x10. Maybe a DKO?
But I don't think wrestling was yet awash with inconclusive N/Cs at that time, so maybe there was a winner.
