In 1951 Harry Fields of Dewsbury (West Riding, Yorkshire) was often billed as the British Middleweight Champion, Holder of Arena Magazine Gold Belt.

In the early 1950s Dale/Martin had their own British champions. Mick McManus was welterweight king and Fields was middleweight champion.
