Funny how PROMOTERS Volte-Faced with Wrestling Angles-Story Lines!
I remember well before BIG DADDY was 'Invented' seeing THE BATTLING
GUARDSMAN against KENDO NAGASAKI at TOWER CIRCUS BLACKPOOL in the
SUMMER of 1975! And then the so-called 'invincible' Tag Team of STAX and DADDY-
which can still be Viewed on You-Tube!-came along!
And they Fought Each Other a few Times before the DADDY Era as well!
So All this 'Jive' about 'Never having Fought against One Another in a Solo Bout'-was
just that-HYPE!
Below is an Interesting Rarity:-GIANT HAYSTACKS vs. SHIRLEY CRABTREE in an
EASTER Spectacular at MEADOWBANK Stadium EDINBURGH-A Local Haunt for me
and Wrestling when I Lived and Worked in the City in the Mid'70's!
MEADOWBANK took over from the LEITH Venue for Wrestling!
And STAX making his Hair look 'Pretty'!!-My Partner once saw him walking down the street
in ALTRICNHAM CHESHIRE!- He was stopping the Traffic!
WHO would have Dared to call him 'A Big Girl's Blouse'?-with his Curlers in then??

Was the Tom Thumb on the posters Nigel Evans?
The original Haystacks was Bill Callhoun in the USA. It was a young Brian Dixon who first groomed Martin Ruane into a Haystacks.
Ironic indeed, yes, Ron. Main Mask, I’m guessing that the Edinburgh bill’s Sandor Kovacs is Downham’s Terry Goodrum (Kib White) appearing alongside his mate Bill Clark (before appearing alongside him in the dock for Kendo related misdemeanours). Mr Connealey was giving away a fair bit of weight, wasn’t he?

Yes Martin , I was suspicious that the height of six eleven was not pushed. Ironic that the idea actually happened later.
This Haystacks would be Ed Bright who was billed for quite a while by the indies as Haystacks. In 1967 Jack promoted Crabtree v Haystacks all over the place - but I think Ed actually retired that year leaving Jack to replace him every time! So you’ll probably find the bout never took place anyway.

Haystacks-A Cumberland giant?
An old thread , but you make the point of previous meetings MM.
Could it be that this is Haystacks and this is the earliest on what I think is a Jack Taylor bill. To think that this idea sold out Wembley.
And those STAX CURLY Locks!!-Shame he didn't have enough for the Beard!!
