I rated Jack Pye as the greatest villain (heel was unknown in Jack's time). Pye versus another heel at Belle Vue - and I must have watched Jack about forty times. His opponents were a mix of blues eyes and heels and, even against a noted and hated villain, Jack Pye always was the heel in the audience's opinion. Top ring performer!! Eddie Rose
One that I find myself watching from time to time is Wild Angus v Mal Kirk. They very much succeeded in creating the impression that they simply didn’t care much about one another.
All credit to Max Crabtree for matchmaking this one. Very different to what he was presenting most of the time and a really excellent contest. In the seventies Martin Conroy for Wryton promotions presented several tag matches teaming Hans Streiger and Billy Howes together but a standout match for me was at The King's Hall, Belle Vue, one Saturday night when he put Howes and Streiger against each other and they tore the place apart. I also recall an outstanding match. again involving Streiger, at a Cassidy/Carpentier promotion at The Houldsworth Hall in Manchester. This one included blading and Streiger's opponent was Cassidy himself. Streiger was billed to face Peter Stewart but Cassidy was, in my mind, an excellent substitute giving us a very different contest to the one initially envisaged.

Princess Paula vs Klondyke Kate at the Wirrina, Peterborough. Paula was so vicious she caused the fans to cheer for Kate.
Mal Kirk versus Baron von Rasche in Bremen Germany. Both wrestlers choking each other with the chain of the gong
Breaks v McManus at the Albert Hall.
They simply ignored the bells and the referee and went crazy at each other for 15 minutes before the inevitable DDQ.
Kirk v Naggers at Bolton early 1970's.
