Dear Friends, any info about the titles held by Jack Taylor will be highly appreciated.
Well known as one of the greatest lightweights of post WWII era Jack later moved to Leicester and became famous promoter he also was running local wrestling gym.
Also would love to know more about one of his "opponents" Fred Woolley of Salford who also was lightweight title holder and later became promoter just like Jack did.
Thanks to everyone.
Martin, hello and thanks so much for your reply and for the info, appreciate that a lot. Please see below pics of three belts associated with Jack Taylor's titles and his promotion. The belt in the top is British Wrestling Federation title (light-weight), similar looking belts (but bigger in size) were given to Knowles and Big Daddy. Belt in the middle was around from the 1930s, and Taylor used it for his champs in his promotion, yes it also was worn by Salfordians such as Woolley and Gentleman Jim Lewis. Belt in the bottom, is a very mysterious trophy worn by champs of different weight classes, Jim Armstrong and Ray Glendenning, Johnny Allan and etc. I would highly appreciate any info on either of those 3 belts. Thanks AGAIN.
Oh! I forgot. Jack also claimed the British and Empire (remember the Empire?!) Light-Welterweight Title at that time.

Hi Ruslan
Have only just seen this post or I would have responded earlier. In the Wisbech Chronicles (Golden Years of Wisbech) Part 4, I cover Jack's loss to Kevin Conneally of his European Light Welterweight Championship. That was December 1967. In May 1968 he failed to win it back at Wisbech from Conneally because Conneally was disqualfied, so he lost but kept the title ... and then jumped to Joint! The poster for fight two even had a pic of the belt!

First of all, info. to the Riot Squad:
I posted information very similar to this one some days ago, but it seems that it has got “lost”? Also, this forum topic went “missing” when I logged on after I posted info. on the forum, but now it would seem everything is ok.
As for your request Ruslan on Jack Taylor, here is what I know:
Although an Accringtonian as myself, I never had the pleasure of meeting up with Jack. When I had a bout for him it went through his Brother Doug.
His championship weights must have been in the welterweight and middleweight division, not sure about a third title.
Maybe his other Brother Ray, who still lives in Accrington can give us more information. I usually meet up with Ray at the reunion held every year in Blackpool.
Cheers
Taylor billed as Northern Counties champion, no weight listed. From a May 12, 1960 programme for the Round House in Dagenham.
