Unfortunately my continuation of big John’s overseas jaunts, just disappeared, so before I commit hari-kari, enjoy the vid. Don’t be fooled by the slow, strong man stuff, they actually show some dexterity, before building to the climax.
(Normal transmission will be restored, in a day or two).
This had the atmosphere of a football match
Visitors would have prayed not to be asked to win in that environment.
I don’t recall Kent commentating to music. I wonder what the Arabic is for “good-looking boy?”
Great spot, Saxonwolf. And George is involved prominently throughout the preliminaries.
At around the 2 minute 50 mark, the commentator mentions "Mr George de Relwyskow" , who is seen holding the belt aloft.
Don't we just love to see Johnny Foreigner going down to the local hero, whatever the country!
This looks like the world handshaking championships at the start.
For bodybuilder-types like Lees, Churchill and Jack Armstrong, wrestling was a great career. They had instant credibility. They just needed to work light, which was probably what terminated Jack's career so prematurely.
Poor John Lees was so good at the art that he even got dragged into championship bouts with the likes of Billy Robinson, who didn't know the meaning of light.
Another great find, John.
Never saw John so Aggressive. Remember all the strength trials and Lock ups , even Albert Wall selling the fact that John Lees was a strong guy. He had a good look about him.
