On Sunday last, 3rd September, Kendo Nagasaki appeared at the Head Bar in Stretford, near Manchester.
Kendo was interviewed (masked) by host Mark Adams, followed the the opportunity for photos with the star himself.
After a brief break, Kendo/Peter re appeared without his mask and answered questions from those in attendance. As at previous recent public appearances, Kendo/Peter was a friendly, witty and fascinating person to spend a few hours with. he repeated much of what we know already from his book and other interviews. However, there were a few things which I hadn't heard before, including the gruesome account of how he really lost part of his finger - a very different story to that told by Max Crabtree.
If you have the opportunity to attend a similar event with Kendo, I would definitely reccomend going. It was particularly fascinating to hear his memories of wrestling in the 1960s and 1970s, both with the different promoters within Joint Promotions and around the world in Spain, Canada and Japan.
A couple of videos from the event have been added to Kendo's official YouTube channel, including the story of his finger.
As 1978 Kid says, it's a pretty gruesome tale, and also adds some further context to his relationship with Count Bartelli.
Yes! Another Great KENDO Evening!!
You should have Introduced yourself 1978 KID!-
We could have had a Chat!!
MAIN MASK
It's a pity he never visited France (as far as we know) or we would have some more TV matches of him that way. Although the French fans would probably just chant "heh heh la kagoule" all match long at him.
