I was going through a lot of DVDs of the old ITV matches recently and noticed something odd, which got me checking through a lot of YouTube clips to make sure and...
...I can't find any example of Kent Walton actually introducing the show with "Greetings, grapple fans." It's always "Hello again, grapple fans" or the odd "Good afternoon, grapple fans."
Am I just not finding the shows where he said it, or is it just something we've all misremembered, probably because the alliteration would have made sense?
I use the words “Greetings grapple fans” whenever I write a post on here, and am certain that I have heard Kent Walton use them too, although I must admit that I am unable to remember in exactly which matches.
With plenty of new matches now available on You Tube still cannot find any examples of greetings always Hello
More often not he started "Hello Grapple Fans welcome to another Freestyle Wrestling session". After a gap of half a century we are all completely influenced by what is now on You Tube. Who knows what he said in the black and white era that ended 8 February 1971 with the conclusion of the ITV colour strike
Oh dear Adrian! Can’t think of a witty reply to that, they should double your money.
I suppose in a way it’s on par with Hughie Green’s “and I mean this most sincerely, folks”
Did or didn’t he say this?
He definitely said Greetings Grapple Fans ... at least once, he was very aware of his greetings.
Also "Greetings Grapple Gazers".
Astonishing to think we are discussing this in 2021 when other tv presenters and speakers are long forgotten.
