It’s the film that the Americans were going to make, then decided, instead of telling the real story of the priest who ran his orphanage using the money from his wrestling exploits, they’d turn it into a comedy starring Jack Black. It was a poor film, with only the few wrestling scenes of interest. (Although if you weren’t acclimatized to Lucha libre, you would be scratching your head at the goings-on). I first read the real story in a National Geographic magazine, at a Dr’s reception. It was a long read and I knew I was the next cab off the rank, so I surreptitiously tore out the whole story and purloined it. (Don’t tell anyone).
