Following on from OSTY's Reference to the Above-I do in fact have The Original 1937 Programme
for OLYMPIA in LONDON which Features This 'Match'!
Like BELLE VUE in 1936 and 1937 This is a Mini 'Work of Art' as well!
With Quality Glossy Paper-The Programme Measures 10" x 13"!!
Promoted by and Forwarded by HAROLD LANE-Every Contest has it's Own Dedicated Page with
Programme Notes and Photos!!
So Below We have The Full Page for The Above Match-Described as 'A Fight to a Finish'!!
In My View-it's Unlikely That KETCHELL could have been The 1930's Original GHOUL!
Although-it seems-he was Born in UPPER SILESIA-and he was around at the Time-THE GHOUL
had Quite a Few Matches against Top Liners Including a Few against THE ANGEL-So if he was
KETCHELL at Allegedly 7' 4"-he would have been Very Busy for Such a Big Guy??!
But I'm not Completely Discounting him!-But I Feel THE GHOUL had a 'Connection' to ATHOLL
OAKELEY!-Even though The Latter Attended This OLYMPIA Tournament-I can't find Solid
Enough Links between The Two of Them!
It seems RON doesn't have KETCHELL in 'The Frame' either!!
MAIN MASK
Amazing to see that MM, thanks for sharing!
Neither made decent wrestlers. And if you can't wrestle a bit then the height gimmick did not last long.
I think Oakeley slipped up calling the Ghoul a Canadian Lumberjack. That gave the game away. Jack Baltus had another alter ego of Jack Murphy , a name he used as a boxer
They have stretched his height a little even in boxing shoes.
If you ahve not seen this before Adrian , enjoy Carver Doone.
