Well, that's what it says here.
Yet not according to The Wrestler magazine.
So were they ever unmasked? Was the plan for an unmasking that didn't happen?
Has anyone the promised article inside?
Bernard Hughes
Hi Hack, Look at the price. All that information for 2 1/2 d I used to get the bus from Gosforth to Newcastle for 3d.
Those were the days !
Mad Mac
Those were the days !
Actually 2 1/2 p, which was a tanner. So my Dad told me. Honest.....

I remember paying my 6d begrudgingly. Extortinate.

Now look what you've done Bernard. We are way off topic. Only kidding.
Anglo Italian
We can surely track the report of the unmasking from The Wrestler ringside reports.
I must confess I am astounded because I thought I knew most of those RAH bouts off by heart and this would have jumped out at me.
Still trying to work out what was going on!
Bernard Hughes
Sorry folks, my fault, I mis- read it..Yes, 2 1/2 p was a tanner.
Hack
Russell said a win for the Judokas. Can we argue ?
Anglo Italian
Yeak, yeah, yeah, win for the Judoks. But the unmasking?

Do we know who these guys were?, the only team I have seen with that name were actually Americans (Dutch Mantell and Frankie Laine), if it is the same guys then we can add them to the list of US wrestlers who visited these shores.
Mad Mac
I'd happily have parted with ten bob to see them v the Black Diamonds!

They were Los Vaqeros locos and were huge in Puerto Rico in the Late 1970s. Dutch Mantell made his pro debut in 1972. It could be that the team because they were masked changed members without the public realising. But have found bills on Google with both Mantell and Lane billed under their own names and without the masks for both lucha bills and a bill in I think Puerto Rico which confuses it even more although on lucha bills teams sometimes are billed individually rather than under team names

I was wondering if they were just part of Morrells imagination so I thought I would see if they did other big matches at big venues.
We have Belle Vue the same month , but of course the promoter at Belle Vue rotated so still looking deeper.
Ron Historyo
I have them in 1969 and 1970 in Scotland

Almost certainly not Mantell who was born late November 1949. After high school hey was a year in University before serving a term in US army in Vietnam. Los Vaquiros means Cowboys could it be another tag team under a mask moonlighting
David Mantell
I'M NOT THAT OLD! lol!
Ron Historyo
Paul Mitchell should know , it's his era.
powerlock
We are gonna have to call you Dutch. Start growing that yosemite sam moustache David!
I Pringle heavy middleweight champion
LOS VAQUEROS unmasked. They worked nearly allways worked for Morrell and Bersesford prom. at exactly the same time as Manuel Pollman and Carlos Moll toured for M@B Prom. They never worked on seperate bills. It was either one way or another, which makes me think they were one and the same people.

This could be the answer thanks Ian
SaxonWolf
Thanks Ian
Ron Historyo
Sounds right , I don't seem to be finding them with Wryton or Best.

Top work, Ian!
Hack
Excellent work. Well. Until we learn otherwise. Thanks Ian.
Bill Smith

I've found half a dozen nights when Vaqueros worked on different bills than Molar and/or Moll, including the RAH night against the Judokas. I've also found a report of Los Vaqueros working in Scotland and Yorkshire on the same night. Of course all our results are unofficial, a long time ago and can rarely be verified. So it proves nothing but does cast a little doubt. Also opens up the possibility of there being more than one pairing of Los Vaqueros.

I did suggest o possible team moonlighting under the masks before the present suggestions had been made. Masks can hide a lot especially if they haven't appeared on tv very often or venues were visited sporadically, I wonder how many wrestlers worked as a vaqueuros ?
maskedmummy
There was a bout at one of Jack Atherton shows possibly Nelson between Naggers and Los Vaqueros No.1

This fascinating thread was full of theories and intrigue but no clearcut solution. Even a false finish when Ian looked to have cracked it -- for a while!
I wonder if any of the newer Members can help us out now?
