I recently added an example of Mike McGurn (Derek Oldham) wrestling twice in one night and despite being told by wrestlers that this went on , it is hard to find examples , after all a lot of club wrestling was only stuck in the paper as " Wrestling Tonight". The example is buried in a big Thread so here it is again and with it I have another one.
It has only just struck me about the night club scene that I don't think I have ever seen wrestling on a billboard poster like you did for Joint promotions and later Dixon. I can remember them being pasted up on Hyde Road near Belle Vue and I got a driver who passed every day to bring me one into work. It came in Paste and All , and I dried it out for my bedroom wall. Especially after 1970 there are loads of large posters about that have survived and you get some good ones even from the 1930's.
But I don't collect Posters. Everyone of mine is a small Newspaper advert that I graphically enhance. My work , I wonder , could be the first time these shows have ever been advertised in colour. Am I wrong , did these nightclub shows do Posters.
Anyway , a wrestler I much admired , born in Salford i think , certainly lived in Weaste near my grandma and a mate of mine, is working two in one night and his hard work paid off in America. A man who said that if you went in with Assirati , your money went up. Les Thornton aka Henry Pierlot. To actually find "advertised" two in one night is rare. I have 2 now , I always did say , Where there is one , there is more.
Bout of the Year and biggest ever show all in one night!
