When we discuss MOUNTEVANS Champions certain Wrestlers' Names right away spring to mind!
Probably mainly because a few Men held a least one of these Titles for more than one Tenure!
When we look at the BRITISH LIGHTWEIGHT Title-the Name of JIM BREAKS is no doubt the first to
be mentioned!-Understandable really as JIM held the Belt on at least 8 Separate Occasions!
Other LIGHTWEIGHT Champions of note were STEVE GREY and ZOLTAN BOSCIK!
But another Man-a Wrestler of Great Skill and Talent-held this Title Belt for almost 4 Years-He was less celebrated than those Champions who came after him-possibly as his Tenure ran from 1959-1963-and the Title Holders at other Weights were more High Profile! Nonetheless MELVYN RISS was a very
Creditable Champion-had 'Served his Time' since 1954-and Defended his Belt regularly!
Here I present a Snapshot of his Career and pay Tribute to MEL RISS and his Contribution to BRITISH
Professional Wrestling!
MAIN MASK
That Coronation handbill is pure gold, Ron, with McManus probably running the show. On an Atholl Oakely bill? This must have been THE handover point. Historic.
Three title bouts, but not 10/6 - thirty bob! Really dear.
Quite possible that this night was the making of McManus, office-wise.
