The psychology of this article is quite clever. Whilst of course no one with a mental age over seven years would be impressed with two over weight circus clowns waddling round the ring and would indeed prefer to watch Tom and Jerry real fans would prefer to view Jackie in a potentially legit fight
Thanks Ost, I had't seen that before. Jackie's shortcomings as a promoter are often mentioned but he never lost the ability to promote himself. He talks sense in much of this but is very selective. Interesting that as late as 1981 he is knocking specifically Daddy and Haystacks but is still protective of the business in general, saying he back pedalled against Mick and wrestling would be more interesting if only results were pre planned.
I saw Johnny Locke as Johnny Palance. Don't think he was bald in 1966 ish. Don't get me going on Maurice La Rue again Graham. We will just differ. He was dreadful.
I assume Jack Locke would be Johnny Locke or, as Orig Williams billed him because of facial similarities to the movie star, Johnny Palance. I've mentioned before how impressed I was with Maurice La Rue. I would have loved to see him face Al Martin who would, on this occasion I am sure, have been the blue eye.
Yeah, very early sighting for Killer there. I didn't realise he'd started out on Lincoln bills.
Meanwhile at the end of the Pier ... tonight's fair bill would have been somewhat spoilt by ongoing discussions all round: " Are YOU coming next week, it's the usual mob?"
Seeing Kellett on a lot of bills both with and against Rann. Makes me wonder whether they were in fact travelling companions?

Now for something completely different, Jackie Pallo "with the lid off" from the Daily Star, 17 august 1981;
