I can give you a later sighting of Dave Newman; he worked for me late 1976 at The Parr Hall, Warrington. I forget the date but he fought and unmasked a hooded wrestler. I forget the name I used for the masked man but he was revealed to be Kevin Cawley. I do recall that Kevin only agreed to do the unmasking as long as I didn't bill him as either Doctor Death or the Outlaw, his two most frequent aliases at the time (mainly for Jack Cassidy).
The unmasking was supposed to be a serious moment but Newman played it for laughs and when Cawley pulled off the mask, he pretended to be shocked by his ugliness and pleaded for him to put the mask back on.
He said that he was cutting down on his bookings and did not do another show for me but I do recall at the time that he had a good regular bout with Bob Sherry.
