A bit of an oddity in Burton Upon Trent. An unheralded supporting match between Jack Atherton and The Masked Marvel ended with a KO win for Atherton after just 45 seconds. The Marvel removed his mask and was Tim McCoy.
In the main event Masambula defeated Bill Beech on falls, whilst other supporting contests saw Bill Ogden deafeat Jim Mellor and Bill Kent draw with Alf Morgan.
Thanks for sharing, the Ost, but that is a stinker of a Tooting show in 1966. I was possibly there - and probably fell asleep with those FOUR opening bouts.
McManus in a heavyweight bout .... hahaha.
I propose this was a watershed bout where Dr Death officially handed over the keys to the new promoter. They decided to treat themselves to double pay, doing away with support bouts.
The 1940's
Wrestling overseas today, Steve Casey defeated Mike Davies in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA, on this day in 1985.
