In the thirties, P.V. was all over the place, London, Devon, Nottingham, Warwickshire, Hampshire, Manchester and Edinburgh, to name a few. (There is also a P.V. appearing in ‘44, ‘50 and ‘51. So, if I am right ( there has to be a first), why hasn’t he been discussed here. When his name is mentioned in the papers, the writer often gushes that P.V’s match, was the best, fastest, most scientific etc. of the evening. Similar remarks of enthusiasm are noted in anticipation, when remarking on a coming bout, involving P.V.
