I have a bit of a special here long before wrestling as we know it started. Promoter claims George Rel to be fighting for champion of the world at "catch" I find this strange. That very same month we had the yearly Alhambra championships. The advertising for those quotes " open to the world" Tom Rose won the lightweights Lonsdale Belt this same month. Interesting that to my knowledge George Rel never fought any of the Wigan wrestlers in the fields. Disputes and versions have dominated wrestling and I guess some things never change. Rel was an Olympic Gold Medalist. Rose won an Open to the World Competition. Rel exploited his fame in the Music Halls. Rose wrestled in the fields of Lancashire and Yorkshire.
