I just randomly found this online while searching for something else, and I thought I'd share it here.
Apparently, Jack Dale's travels saw him go all the way to Turkey in 1952. Here's a poster for a series of pro wrestling shows in Istanbul, Turkey, in December 1952. He's billed as the English champion. The five shows were to be held at the Istanbul Sports and Exhibition Hall, which had a seating capacity of 7,000.
Actually, the one next to Les Thornton looks a bit like Steve Clements?
That's Pat Roach there, too.
And MJC but I've never seen him smile so hard to be 100%!
Unrelated to the shows above, there were three shows at the Istanbul Sports and Exhibition Hall in September 1968 and based on the photo below Les Thornton and John Lees were among the wrestlers who worked on those shows.
Also, a Turkish article from August 1970 says that a group of English pro wrestlers were going to be touring Turkey soon. No names mentioned.
Quick update. I found a Turkish article talking about one of the first shows and it doesn't mention Dale as one of the wrestlers who worked the show. However, the report says that Ernie Riley did.
A good find Phil, thanks. He was back in Britain to sign the papers for Dale Martin joining Joint Promotions in January 1953.
Great stuff Phil, as always.
