What a shame I never got to chat to you Adrian, on that evening when we were both meeting Kendo at the event in Stretford. I am, embarrassingly, on one of the You Tube clips of the event, when he was demonstrating holds on that unfortunate young man with too much to say!

That was the year Kendo went into business with Dixon.

It was a very late show for Lord Bertie as well.

I even wonder if Corbett doubled as Dr Death.

I can tell you as I was there that night. It was Gordon Corbett who faced not Kendo Nagasaki but The Wildman of Borneo. It was an entertaining bout but, of course, not the one billed. At the time I was corresponding with Gillette who wrote to inform me that Kendo had not even been approached about appearing. Incidentally, the "one other contest" was that popular standby, Pedro The Gypsy versus Butcher Goodman.
