Compared to the '50's/'60's/'70's-after 1978/79 the Ranks of Quality BRITISH Heavyweights
in our Rings were a pale shadow of previous Decades!!
KENDO Retired from Wrestling in 1978!
GWYNN DAVIES-after a brief 'Return-also Retired in 1980!
ALBERT WALL was long Retired by the end of the 1970's!
PAT ROACH was Wrestling Part-Time due to Film and Business Commitments!
COUNT BARTELLI was still 'soldiering on' but way past his Best!
So for HEAVYWEIGHT Wrestling the 1980's did not look a Bright and Exciting Proposition!
True GIANT HAYSTAX was still on the Scene and TONY ST. CLAIR and WAYNE BRIDGES
were still Active but the DADDY Circus was starting to get a Grip!
So it was with more than a little 'Relief' that a NORTH AMERICAN came along!-A Proper
Heavyweight scaling the 20 Stone mark and standing well over 6' Tall!
Armed with an 'Anti-British' Attitude JOHN QUINN arrived!-A Powerful and Menacing Figure-
Did he arguably SAVE Heavyweight Wrestling in this Country single-handedly!!
If there had been NO QUINN-would it have Died a slow Death?-I think so!
At the very least he brought along a very Welcome ALTERNATIVE to the DADDY Charade!
Apart from the 1979 'Defeat' to DADDY?-I didn't see him lose hardly at all!-apart from a Loss
to HAYSTAX in GERMANY!
He became a WORLD Heavyweight Champion and 'revitalised' the U.K.Heavyweight Scene!
Without the MIGHTY QUINN the Top Division would have been 'dire'!
In this Respect- He did a Great Job!
Who saw QUINN Wrestle Live? Was he along with STAX the Mainstay until the Return of
KENDO NAGASAKI?
MAIN MASK
Ray Steele,Dalibar Singh,Dave Taylor and Tom Tyronne were all solid wrestlers
