I think they did Whit Walks and Whit Lane is an area there. Nothing to do with Eccles. First Salford church was Trinity not far out of Manchester. Pendleton got St Thomas quite early and yes a village but always part of Salford.and Salford a Catholic Cathedral, But many people got married and baptised kids at Manchester Cathedral which was originally the Collegiate Church. They did mass marriages where pregnant brides could stand at the back. Pendlebury is not Pendleton , it was a twin town to Swinton. These were part of Worsley and the borough was Barton-in-Irwell not Salford.
Can only think , one of the Victorian Papers. Somewhere there is a picture of him outside the pub in Pendleton that I can't find. I think I put it on when we had the old webs Forum.
The best fit and an exact fit would be a death in Salford in the last quarter of 1936. (age74) Almost a certainty that he would be in either Agecroft or Weaste Cemetery. Salford Cemetery's office , Grave map etc are central and I believe they would charge you for looking.
Death cert is another option , but would not say wrestler on it at that time. Maybe Publican , but maybe just retired or no occupation. It would give address and informant. Alos cause of death.
Thanks for sharing this Ron, appreciate, priceless memories. Salford's Pendleton historically was village? Local people before the industrialization were involved in textiles as well? What is their local folklore, morris dancing maybe what else they were known for? Is it part of historical parish of Eccles? Did they have a Wakes week in Pendleton or they celebrated rushbearings at the Pendlebury Wakes?
The Whit Walks still take place today around Pentecost/Whitsunday

Ron, the black and white sketch of Moores you posted, where from does it come?
