Saw the below video on Youtube over the weekend part of a shoot interview with former U.S wrestler Col Debeers. To be honest i know nothing about Debeers, the Euro Tournies caption caught my eye.I don't know if his allegations are true, it's certainly the first time i've ever heard this claim concerning German/Continental wrestlers wives. Anyway see what you all think

Take these comments with a pinch of salt.
Dieter travelled all over the world and lived for some time in both Caracas and Barcelona.
Usually wives did not accompany wrestlers to these tournaments which started in the spring in Linz then moved to Graz and Vienna in the summer. With Hamburg and Hannover in the autumn and concluding with Bremen during Advent ending the weekend before Christmas.
Being always on the move did not lend itself to pimping
I have read that when Kerry Von Erich wrestled with a false foot from 1986 , that it was a match with Colonel DeBeers in 1988 when the boot came off in an AWA match , thus exposing the cover up.
It looks like he never wrestled in the UK.
AHHH! Col Debeers was actually the alias of "Easy" Ed Wiskoski, he was a tall (6' 4") second generation American. I do recall reading an article (a wrestling programme i think) in the early-mid 80s about him entering the European Tournaments. If Wiskoski's allegations of European/German wrestlers pimping their wives out are true then it's been a long hidden secret, all i can say is having spent some time in Germany their attitudes to sex are more open than us Brits, even back in the 90s German television often aired advertisments containing nudity.
You got me started about the German tournaments, Alan. And I am delighted to have found this BW 1980 match with Ed in against the Italian/Belgian we know from the 1973 Fanfare for Europe matches. Given the comments about pimping, it's astonishing to hear the crowd going crazy for their hero Axel Dieter!
Ed comes in with a stetson and has the longer blond hair. He takes plenty of bumps to put over his smaller, ageing employer.
He seems to have favoured the racist sterotype: in Europe as a cocky cowboy; and in the USA where he played a Boer.
I noticed that all the big tournaments were promoted by famous wrestlers we know. I had been aware of Austrian Otto Wanz but here Dieter in Hamburg; Saturski and Lageat too.
Did Wiskowski wrestle in UK?

Nice find.
I think he wrestled as Ed Wiskoski. I see him in a 28-man 1980 tournament where he came second. He wrestled a remarkable number of scoreless draws - it seems the local promoters wanted to really make him work.
I see him wrestling against Haystacks and Tony St Clair and Steve Wright and Caswell Martin in 1987. He seemed to lose most singles matches though I do spot a win against Judd Harris. He also tagged with Harris and also with John Quin. So he kept good company.
I always find it easier to believe their ramblings. Part of being a wrestling fan!
