Great presentation, Main Mask, thank you.
This is the West End after all, so good luck to them in getting away with those prices. Probably a transient crowd rather than Preston regulars. They were probably angling for ambassadors and wealthy business people with more expensive promotion in hotels. They probably had to throw the kitchen sink at the sales every time whereas Preston and elsewhere would have, I imagine, 90% regular and reliable attendees.
It was also a charity venue in some way. Donald Cave of the Cottage Homes was The Man. No mention of him here. Some of the posters show signs of another hand involved, though. Seymour Hall certainly seems a bit of a Dale Martin Peculiar.
A few ugly matches there. Churchill v Yearsley's a disaster. 3+ stone weight difference and maybe six inches in height. Spencer was diminutive. Must be tiny now in his 90s?
McManus and Pallo seemingly booked as a team, the tv stars? This was poor, they were sworn enemies.
Billy Joyce also right down the card as British Heavyweight champion. Didn't seem to value him and didn't seem to showcase the premier championship.
In fact Billy Joyce clearly wasn't a smash hit in Preston either, judging by the blatantly anti-Billy Joyce wording under Billy Robinson's write-up. Unusual. I mean, he was from Wigan, not so very far from Preston.
Don Mendoza doesn't seem to have shared many bills with Al Miquet?
