Enclosed original programme from the above venue, with all the substitutes, and results, which is different from the one shown by Adrian yesterday, both are correct, and original, but differ as there must have been one type for the working class, and another for the rich businessmen. Both are great finds as this match was billed for the World championship, but with so many substitutes there must have been many complaints.
Best for now Mike................good work everyone....
Hi John , never looked at Monteverde before and even had to check if it was a surname in Britain.
It looks to me as if he was sometimes billed as his real name Frank Monteverde which for me gives the game away that he was born in 1911 in Lambeth.
There is an uncanny parallel with Assirati.
Frank Monteverde's dad was born in Holborn and the previous generation were Italian.
Bert's grandfather Bartholomewe Assiratti and Frank's dad John Monteverde were both Musicians.
What is it about this Italian community.
Some early bills are bang on describing these guys as Anglo Italians or London based Italians.
Monteverde sometimes described as 16 stones and portly.
Anglo will love it.
