Another seldom seen and not easy to perform Spectacular Wrestling Move was the
Submission Hold-the REVERSE SUSPENDED CROSS BOW-Picture to follow!
This was a Favourite of THE MASK-the Undefeated Hooded Heavyweight of the late
'50's-to mid '60's!
Did Anyone Witness this Spectacular Submission Hold executed in a Bout?/
MAIN MASK
Hi Sax. Yes it did look painful.
It was nearly always a submission, because there is no way out except falling to one side and making it look very messy.
Of course in my early days when rope work was severely restricted, if the sufferer was near enough to the ropes and could hold on, the ref would order the hold to be broken.
He would then lift the sufferer off.
The surfboard (sometimes called flying surfboard) looked a lot more painful than the picture above
That's similar to an inverted (upside down) Reverse Surfboard submission hold that George Kidd used to employ.
