The Son of PLYMOUTH'S ROY 'BULL' DAVIS followed his Dad into the Professional
Wrestling Ranks-as did the Son of JIM HUSSEY in MARK ROLLERBALL ROCCO!!
DAVIS'S Boy started his Wrestling Career back in the 1960's and adopted the Ring Name
STEVE YOUNG-Sounding a bit like a Film Star Name!
In those Days he had longish Blond Hair like STREET and often Tagged with BOBBY BARON-another Wrestler with similar Blond Locks!
A Rule Bender like his Father he was a self-styled 'BAD BOY' and I remember seeing him
then!
Although moving up the Weights in the '70's-his Wrestling Persona was still that of STEVE YOUNG-and I have him Topping the Bill against PETE ROBERTS at CORN HALL NORWICH on SATURDAY 26TH FEBRUARY 1977-Still Billed as 'The Bad Boy of the Ring'!
-For me the REAL Bad Boy was BOBBY BARNES-!
But soon the STEVE YOUNG Persona was about to MORPH into a New Baddie-the Shaven
Headed SKULL MURPHY replete with Skull Emblazoned Ring Gear and a New and Deadly
Submission Hold-The 'GATOR HOLD'-a similar Lethal Move to KENDO'S 'RACK'!
He would go on to notch up many a Score with this Standing Submission Manoeuvre-
see Photo to follow! Also this Transformation to a 'New' Character kick-started his Wrestling
Career and brought Success in the form of Annual Tag Team Championships along with
DAVE 'FIT' FINLAY!!
The Monicker 'SKULL MURPHY' was not 'new' though having previously been adopted
by another Wrestler in the Late '50's/Early '60's!
I'm wanting to Pinpoint EXACTLY when STEVE YOUNG Morphed into SKULL MURPHY??
What Year was this New Character introduced??-I'm thinking 1981?
Can RON or Anyone help solve the Date of the First Appearance of the 'Indestructible'
SKULL MURPHY??
Posters/Photos/Programmes to follow!

At the same time as many Joint stars were crossing to the independents, Max Crabtree brought good friends Steve Young and Jim Moser back to Joint. He had few plans for Moser but decided to transform Steve Young into Skull Murphy. It was so many years that Young (Pete Northey) had worked for Joint (I believe his last T V bout as Young was in tag with Street against The Black Diamonds and he lost the bout when Ginsberg "blinded" him with powder) that when Max brought him back it was pretended that he was a totally new wrestler. Indeed, Max wanted him to resemble as closely as possible the American Skull Murphy.
Incidentally, I liked the programme from Maidstone which billed him as Scull Murphy. Perhaps he arrived in a canoe.
Amazing seeing The Indestructible Skull Murphy with hair! Fantastic heel.
Yes I think David is Davey Boy, Ron, and Murphy did indeed tag with Finlay.
Maybe 1st April 1982,,,,,BIRMINGHAM
David and Kilby v Finlay and Murphy
Take it that David means Young Davy Boy and Skull Murphy. After my era so help needed.
Early May 1982 is where I first see him as "Skull Murphy", which means somewhere between end of February (as referenced in Ron's poster above) and early May.
If I can help at all I will give you this window. 1982
