A new series from historian Ruslan Pashayev. His journey begins on Ruslan's familiar turf, England before he goes on to follow the story of real catch wrestling, from England to around the World.
Dear SaxonWolf, thanks so much, glad you enjoyed it!!!
The study of Lancashire wrestling history became the main focus of my research.
And linking its cultural uniqueness (East Lancashireness if you will, a phenomenon) to a certain very specific historical ethnic background, and then to the unity of multicultural diversity became the work of my life.
History has its own ways...it doesn't lack sense of humor. In Netherlands and Flanders rural wrestling games became extinct long ago. Industrialization finished them. And now there is no such a thing as Dutch folk freestyle wrestling...yet they still use the word STOEIEN (old spelling Stoeijen)...it means...now I have to simply stop talking...and post a video...as they say its better one time to watch it than 1000 times to hear about it.
Ruslan is in Germany with part 5, which has now launched in the Timeline section.
Part 3 and Ruslan moves on to South Africa. Now added to the Timeline section.
Excellent again Ruslan, thank you very much for this.
Are you ready for part 2? The story of Catch travelling the world from celebrated historian Ruslan Pashayev
The Hold Taken - Catch Around the World
This series will alternate with John Shelvey's new series and so will be back next week.
Brilliant reading, as always, thanks Ruslan.
