Billy Joyce was a very successful wrestler who achieved his reputation without having ever left the UK to travel abroad because he would never leave his Family.
Who else was a very successful wrestler without wanting to leave the UK and wrestle overseas?
For the wrestlers who travelled there is no doubt Professional Wrestling gave an opportunity to visit the world few other sports could offer
Well done Broughton Minor!
You created a great cv.
Since you were personally responsible for UK entering the Common Market, are you contemplating a New Year's Eve Brexit bout? Now that would be a properly SENSATIONAL bill-topper, 48 years on... (even though every Relwyskow bout was sensational, here I really mean it)
Johnny South also took part in the German tournaments occasionally
Belgium couldn't resist that trip,France,Spain.
"...Did either of the Broughton Rangers wrestle abroad?..."
Johnny South did, Europe and Japan I think.
I wonder what the Continentals would have made of Catweazle?
I don't think Kellett could have worked abroad as he needed such an obliging opponent.
I don't think Steve Viedor would have wrestled abroad.
But in the early seventies they really did do regular stints away for a week or so, groups of UK wrestlers off to places like Kuwait, Nigeria. I remember Johnny Czeslaw being in one such group that went to Sweden. Otherwise I wouldn't have thought he'd have travelled overseas much.
Did either of the Broughton Rangers wrestle abroad?
Did Bobby Barnes travel abroad?
Old Jackie wrestled in France Spain Malta and Belgium
Although he didn't like travelling away from home and always tried to get back each night Billy Joyce wrestled in Germany in the early 1950s and in Japan in 1968. It was in Japan he became ill which led to his dramatic weight loss.
How about McManus , Logan , Kellett , there were lots really but the heavies seemed to get the work overseas.
Jackie Pallo? Jackie Junior did some dates in the US but as far as I know Jackie was a homebody.
