JACKIE PALLO caused something of a Sensation when he started appearing in
STRIPED Wrestling Trunks and GOLD Coloured Wrestling Boots-we won't include
the Ribbons! But was he the FIRST Wrestler to abandon long dressing gowns and
plain Wrestling Gear?
Does anyone know another Wrestler who beat him to this 'New Glitzy Look?
The 'DAZZLER' perhaps?
MAIN MASK
Of course, long before John Naylor appeared in gold ring jacket, trunks and boots, there was fellow Wiganite "Romeo" Joe Critchley who would often walk down the aisle with a bunch of daffodils handing them out to ladies in the audience.
I copied the idea when I booked Ezra to work for me in a bout against Chris Mc.Neil at Walsall Football Club on The Pleck. I billed Ezra, much to his surprise when he arrived at the venue, as Banana Bill and persuaded him to walk to the ring with a large bunch of bananas, handing them to ladies in the audience as he walked down the aisle.
I recall one rather large lady shouting, "What am I supposed to do with this?" and a club member being reprimanded by the concert secretary John Wilson for his ribald reply.
